The Origin Story

It was never a job. It was a calling.

Long before “Healing Body Therapy International” appeared on a business card, Victor was just a kid with a gift he didn’t yet have a name for. He’d massage family and friends for the pure fun of it — no training manual, no certificate, just an instinct for finding exactly where the tension lived and working it loose.

What started as something he did because people asked, and because he genuinely loved doing it, slowly revealed itself to be something bigger. The more hands he worked on, the better he got — and the more it became obvious this wasn’t just a hobby. It was practice. Years of it, quietly building a skill most therapists only develop after formal training.

“I didn’t choose massage therapy. It chose me — I just kept saying yes to it until it became my life’s work.”

That early instinct became a discipline. That discipline became Healing Body Therapy International — a Rosebank-based studio built on the same principle that started it all: treat the whole person, not just the symptom. Victor now works alongside fellow therapist Melody at the studio’s Hood Avenue location, and together they’ve grown a client base that reaches far beyond Johannesburg — with roughly 80% of clients travelling in from abroad, proof that a calling followed properly doesn’t stay local for long.
